I have finally got the new batch of spoons photographed and set up. Unless I note the wood, the spoons are made from cherry. As will be the next several dozen I bet. Some large serving spoons from crooks and a batch of short eating spoons done in the cherry heartwood. I have numbered this series “Oct spoon” and the number, rather than trying to figure out where I left off. Send an email or post a comment if you’d like to order one of these. Shipping will be a flat rate of $6.00 in the US.

Oct spoon 05 – Maple, this first is one I really was quite happy with…sometimes a crook opens up just right and you get the spoon you saw in the log.

Oct spoon 07  – SOLD    a small-to-medium serving spoon. This one is cut upside-down from the usual way I align the bowls, creating a different pattern inside the bowl.

———————————

Oct spoon 08 – an eating spoon, or soup spoon. One of several in this general size this time. Sometimes cherry has lots of knots, I had to cut around them to get blanks clear enough for spoons.  L:  7 1/2″  W:  2″

Oct spoon 09 – Similar in size and function to the spoon above. These were made from short, straight sections, not the crooks like some of the first part of this batch.

Oct spoon 010 – SOLD       This bowl has an interesting pattern, resulting from making the spoon just off-center from the “pith” or center of the blank.

Oct spoon 011 – SOLD   small spoon, large bowl. Done this time in birch. I like this spoon a lot, but it has a story. I had made a spoon that I was very pleased with, & ruined the carving on the handle. This one is my attempt to copy that now deleted spoon…but the handle here is shorter than the “one that got away”.
