Is the foot treadle lathe original or much later? Is the headstock still lying around somewhere in the shop? There is so much to be learned from this place. So many old buildings have been gussied up and their bones covered in some modern sheathing to please a later aesthetic. This is clearly a place where things were accomplished. Just the concave beveling on the wall rack shows the love of accomplishment – a beautiful touch in an otherwise roughhewn shop.
